Kommende Kosmen

How do we move in other directions? Towards the front? Towards each other? A car journey in reverse gear to the door of the shared exhibition venue. Two cameras, one inside the car and the other directed at the car from the outside, accompanied the artists on their weird drive. The images document the dawning daylight, breaks along the way, conversations, the laughter of the passengers and the passing landscape. Driving forwards in reverse together emerges as a metaphor for processes and their temporality; fuel for joint creation in the ‘now’ of the future, which always also encompasses a look backwards. ‘Kommende Kosmen’ not only documents the artistic collaboration and its often erratic movements, but, along the route, opens up broad avenues to other ways of thinking and driving through shared laughter, wonder and dizziness.  

The video work “Kommende Kosmen” won the jury prize awarded as part of the exhibition „Schlüsselwerke“ at SKB artes, Bozen (IT), 2024.
